VISIT US
Gwrych Castle is a popular dog-friendly tourist attraction in the most picturesque setting. Our scenic visitor route is open from 10am – 5pm, with last admission at 4pm. Please see our Opening Times page to plan your visit.
Heres an overview on what to expect during your visit:
- I’M A CELEBRITY: During your visit, you will be able to visit some of the set locations used for the 2020 and 2021 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! The set itself isn’t here, but we do have information signage and some props available to view.
- SIGNS: We have a selection of information signs available to view along the route, please look out for them during your visit to find more information about the castle’s history and future.
- PHOTO CHALLENGE: We have 10 labelled photo opportunities throughout our visitor route, take a photo of all 10, post them on social media and tag #GwrychCastle for a chance to win a family day pass. We will choose one winner every month!
- SELF-GUIDED TOUR: We’ve made it easier for you to navigate your way around our visitors route with our self-guided tours! We have a QR code available to scan on our new leaflets which are provided at the ticket office on arrival.
- FACILITIES: We have limited facilities due to no running water. However, we have a pop-up shop and cafe with light snacks, and hot and cold drinks available. We also have temporary portaloo toilets available on the main terrace.
Pre-booking is recommended to enable us to manage the flow of visitors coming in and out of the estate. However, we do have General Admission tickets available to purchase at the ticket office.
ACCESSIBILITY
The majority of the main building is currently a ruin but we have a few interior spaces to visit.
The Castle was built into a hill, subsequently the terrain is uneven with many steps, slopes and steep footpaths throughout the estate. Sensible footwear is recommended at all times. Many of the footpaths along our standard visitor route are unsuitable for pushchairs, self-drive three wheeled vehicles and wheelchairs.
We have an accessible route for disabled visitors, please make us aware at the Ticket Office if you require disabled parking and our accessible route so we can advise you accordingly. This route will avoid the steps, but does include a slope leading to Stable Court which can be tiring for a person assisting. The gardens and the Chapel are both accessed via steps so are not accessible to wheelchair users.
As Gwrych Castle is over two hundred years old, substantially ruinous and Grade I listed, we are afraid we are not permitted to alter any part to make it more accessible at present. See our FAQs page to find out more in relation to our Facilities, access and much more.
